Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated five girls’ hostels in Arang on August 3. These hostels will provide accommodation facility to 300 Scheduled Caste girls to continue their education. The total expenditure for these hostels exceeds Rs. 8.06 crore. The Chief Minister inaugurated several hostels, including a 100-seat post-matric Scheduled Caste girls’ hostel in Arang worth Rs. 1.74 crore, a 50-seat pre-matric Scheduled Caste girls’ hostel in Mandir Hasaud worth Rs. 1.74 crore, a 50-seat Scheduled Caste girls’ ashram in Arang worth Rs. 1.62 crore, another 50-seat Scheduled Caste girls’ ashram worth Rs. 1.62 crore, and a new 50-seat pre-matric Scheduled Caste girls’ hostel in Arang worth Rs. 1.52 crore. As part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, the Chief Minister planted a Ramfal sapling on the hostel premises.
During the event, the Chief Minister announced the addition of 2,000 seats across all state hostels. He also outlined plans for constructing houses for SDM and tehsil office employees in Arang, as well as expanding and renovating the Arang rest house. In response to MLA Guru Shri Khushwant Saheb’s request, he approved Rs. 17 crore for constructing the Bhandarpuri Gurudwara premises.
During the event, he remarked that these buildings would enable Scheduled Caste girls to continue their education comfortably and bring honour to their parents and the state through their academic achievements. Addressing the gathering, Shri Sai emphasised that education is the fundamental mantra of development—not just a means to secure employment, but the foundation of an ideal society. He recalled the 15-year tenure of Dr. Raman Singh’s government, during which numerous initiatives were taken to develop education in the state, resulting in its educational institutions ranking among the top in the country. As a result, more than 10 medical colleges have been established in the state.
The Chief Minister stated that good governance and development are his government’s priorities. Despite being in power for only a few months, they have already taken steps to fulfil the guarantees given by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the state’s people. He mentioned that 211 schools in Chhattisgarh have been included in the PM Shri Yojana, with each school receiving a budget of Rs. 2 crore from the Central Government to improve educational quality and teacher availability. Additionally, the number of hostel seats in Delhi for ST, SC, and OBC students from Chhattisgarh preparing for IAS and IPS exams has been increased to 200.
Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam addressed the gathering, highlighting the government’s firm commitment to the betterment, upliftment, and development of society under Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership. He expressed delight at the approval for constructing buildings for 180 hostels that previously lacked proper facilities. Tenders worth Rs. 210 crore have been issued for 121 of these buildings, with tenders for the remaining 69 being uploaded. The government is also dedicated to constructing buildings for 295 hostels and ashrams without proper facilities across the state. Shri Netam added that the government is working on maintaining and upgrading existing hostels to ensure a conducive study environment for students. He mentioned that the state government has opened 3,757 hostels and ashrams for ST-SC categories with 197,000 seats, and new Eklavya schools across the state. These hostels and ashrams will provide admission to Scheduled Caste female students, offering well-equipped dormitories, computer rooms, classrooms, dining halls, and an adequate number of toilets and bathrooms. The buildings are also supplied with sufficient electricity and water facilities. During the program, the Chief Minister distributed free bicycles to about 20 schoolgirls for their commute.
At the event in Arang, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai distributed financial assistance to various beneficiaries of the labour department. Under the Minimata Mahtari Yojana, he provided Rs. 20,000 each to ten women from labour families. Under the Noni Sashaktikaran Yojana, he distributed cheques of Rs. 20,000 each to about fifteen meritorious female students from labour families. The Chief Minister also distributed Rs. 1,00,000 each to the families of two deceased construction workers under the Nirman Shramik Mritu-Divyang Sahayata Yojana. Two elderly labourers received Rs. 20,000 each under the Shramik Siyan Sahayata Yojana. He also provided financial aid of Rs. 3000 each to five talented children of labourers. This scheme provides educational assistance ranging from Rs. 1,000 to 10,000 for two children of registered labourers who work for 90 days a year in construction. Additionally, Shri Sai granted over Rs. 3,00,000 to five animal husbandry farmers to support their dairy businesses. He also distributed honorariums totalling about Rs. 300,000 to artificial insemination workers under the Pashu Mitra Yojana.
