IAS Sonmoni Borah appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Land Resources, Government of India

Raipur: Sonmoni Bora, a 1999 batch IAS, has been appointed to Joint Secretary in the Department of Land Resources, Government of India. He has received an appointment letter and shared it on social media.

Borah was about to go to New Delhi on central deputation a few months back but could not proceed due to the unprecedented Covid-19 situation including some departmental reasons. Although the state government gave approval to him for the central deputation. Finally, it came to an end with his appointment letter.

According to an order issued by Srinivas R., Secretary, Appointment Committee of the Cabinet and Stabilization, as many as 20 IAS have been placed in several posts including Joint Secretary Bora who opted the post in the Department of Land Resources, Government of India, and the order to this effect was issued today.

Sonmoni Bora considered as one of the torch-bearer IAS in Chhattisgarh. Who has served in many departments and was doing extraordinary works for the welfare of the state. His outstanding works have a long list. Begin with the Commissioner in the Capital Municipal Corporation, Collector in many districts of Chhattisgarh, Secretary in many departments, and also Secretary to the Governor. Borah best known for his tenure as the secretary of sports in the state where he headed many transforming sports projects for the youth of Chhattisgarh. Under his guideline state had witnessed a large number of national and international sports events and players had received the opportunity to participate across India including International events as well. Borah is an alumnus of Maxwell School, University of Syracuse, USA, and pursued Executive Masters in Public Administration’, which added another feather in his cap.  

  

Due to his proactive approach, generosity, honesty, efficiency, and resultant working practice, he has made a significant place in the hearts of the people. This could be a reward for his good work that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel gave a nod when he expressed his desire to go on central deputation and immediately CM gave the stamp of approval.

Sharing his euphoria moment on social media, Bora expressed that in Capital of the country New Delhi, has cherished memories of mine. Student years such as selection in UPSC examinations, IAS award , studies of JNU, blessings of seniors including DU Campus will makes me delightful always.
