Students of Academic World School, Bemetara excel in the AFS intercultural student exchange at LKSEC Gotan (Rajasthan)

Students of Academic World School were part of a seven day long inter cultural student exchange programme organized by the renowned boarding school L K Singhania Education Centre at Gotan (Raj) They showed very good performance and excelled in various activities. This domestic exchange programme aims at providing the students an experience in diversity and make them familiar with the culture and experiences of students from other parts of the country. Its main aim is to make students familiar with various opportunities available in the realm of education including sports, culture alongside academic excellence. AFS is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. All the prestigious schools of India and abroad are members of this organization.

Academic World School selects students for this programme every year and provides them with the opportunity to participate in the exchange programmes organized by prestigious school under the aegis of AFS-India. The students selected this year were subject to a tough and strict selection process including academic performance and discipline. Thirteen students were selected viz. Niyati Goyal, Chahak Patel, Alina B Mathai, Arnav Gautam, Gopika Sinha, Akshat Tewari, Shivani Patel, Prince Kurrey, Shradha patel, Anas Ahmad, Anupriya Banafer, Aryan Chandravanshi and Maurya Surana. All these along with students from other schools participated in the seven day long programme at LKSEC, Gotan (Raj).

The daily programme at LKSEC started with yoga in the morning. To appreciate the community Green Foot Prints project the students visited a government school in the vicinity and educated the students about the importance of education. They also took part in a tree plantation drive. The students of Academic World Students displayed their artistic prowess by taking part in a clay modelling and painting workshop organized by LKSEC, Gotan (Raj),

The stduents also went for a city tour to Jodhpur and visited national heritage sites including Mehrangarh fort, Umaid Bhawan etc. The desert safari was a great experience for the students. During this tenure the students also visited a local ITI where they gained practical insight into trades like electrical, mechanical, automobile among a few. The curiosity aroused in the students is worth mentioning here. A visit to the JK White Cement Factory was worthwhile as the students learnt how the factory works and they also interacted with the technical team.

On the last they the hosts organized a mini cultural programme where the students of Academic World School also put up their performance. All guests were presented with mementoes by the host school.

Chairperson of Academic World School Mrs Bhawna Bohra opined that the seven day inter cultural programme was a huge success and the students have benefitted hugely out of it. The experience shall stay with our students for a lifetime. In future the Academic World School shall such programmes in their premises for other prestigious schools of the country. Opportunities such as this help in developing a positive mindset in students and they are able to connect with multiple cultures across the country.
