Korba, 11 June. The Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025 at NTPC Korba celebrated another impactful chapter of its Role Model Initiative with a special session featuring Ms. Janki Kathle, Naib Tehsildar, Korba, and a rising star in Chhattisgarh’s administrative landscape. The event added a deeply motivational layer to the program’s vision of empowering girls through real-life stories of determination, service, and leadership.
The Role Model Initiative under GEM brings distinguished achievers from various sectors—sports, governance, science, and arts—to interact with the GEM girls, opening their eyes to new possibilities and igniting aspirations far beyond the ordinary. This week’s interaction with Janki Kathle, an inspiring administrative officer from a humble background, was both empowering and transformative.
During her session, Ms. Kathle spoke about her journey from a small town to becoming Naib Tehsildar, Korba, navigating challenges through hard work, perseverance, and the will to create meaningful change in society. Her narrative resonated with the GEM girls, many of whom come from similar socio-economic backgrounds.
“My journey hasn’t been easy,” she shared candidly, “but the belief that I could serve and uplift my community kept me going. Every obstacle became a stepping stone.” Ms. Kathle highlighted the importance of education, time management, self-discipline, and staying rooted in one’s values. She encouraged the girls to aspire for civil services and leadership roles, emphasizing that government positions offer a powerful platform to bring about change.
She also gave the girls a behind-the-scenes look into the role and responsibilities of a Naib Tehsildar, explaining how the administrative machinery works and how women officers are increasingly taking charge of critical leadership roles in rural and urban governance.
The interaction was deeply engaging, with GEM girls asking questions about preparation for competitive exams, balancing personal and professional life, and what it feels like to make a difference at the grassroots level. Ms. Kathle responded with warmth and honesty, building a strong connection with her young audience.
Her message was clear: “Leadership is not defined by where you come from, but by where you choose to go and how many you bring along with you.”
As the session concluded with loud applause and hopeful smiles, it became evident that Janki Kathle’s presence had not only informed but also inspired a room full of future leaders.
NTPC Korba’s GEM Role Model Initiative continues to be a defining pillar of the program, turning ordinary days into extraordinary learning moments for its participants. With mentors like Janki Kathle, Naib Tehsildar, Korba, leading the way, the GEM girls are growing into confident, capable individuals ready to shape a better tomorrow.
