SECL bags awards for Star Rating of mines and performance in Special Campaign 3.0, Company also awarded for media publicity in Special Campaign 3.0

Awards presented by Honorable Coal Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi

SECL has been awarded by the Coal Ministry for its achievements in Star Rating of three mines and Special Campaign 3.0. SECL’s Charcha underground mine (year 2018-19, 2019-20), Bangwar underground mine (year 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22) and Khairha underground mine (year 2020-21) have been awarded for their performance in star rating of mines. The said awards were presented by the Honorable Coal Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi in a grand program organized in New Delhi.

Ministry of Coal has formulated Star Rating Policy to distinguish outstanding performance of coal mines and accord them the recognition. The Star rating policy outlines Star Rating criteria across seven comprehensive modules: “Mining Operations, Environmental factors, Adoption of Technologies-Best Mining Practices, Economic Performance, Rehabilitation & Resettlement, Worker related Compliance, and Safety & Security.” The Star Ratings are awarded on a scale from Five Star to No Star, evaluating each mine’s achievements holistically.

Emphasis on increasing coal production from underground mines, number of continuous miners in SECL to cross 50

The Coal Ministry has set a target to increase the total production from underground coal mines to 100 million tonnes by the year 2030. SECL is also making continuous efforts in this direction, as a result of which, after a long time, there has been an increase in coal production from underground mines in the last financial year. At present, the company has installed 12 continuous miners in underground mines and plans are being made to install 40 more continuous miners in the future.

SECL gets award for achievements of Special Campaign 3.0, stands first among all the 14 companies of the Coal Ministry in three categories including media publicity

In the said ceremony, SECL was awarded the first position among all the 14 coal and lignite mines in the area of media publicity (highest social media presence and press coverage), highest area cleaned and highest revenue from scrap disposal under the special campaign 3.0 of the Government of India. Under Special Campaign 3.0, SECL cleaned an area of more than 29 lakh square feet and removed more than 2000 metric tons of scrap, generating revenue of more than Rs 10 crore.

SECL also stood first among all the coal/lignite companies of the Government of India in promoting the activities being carried out under Special Campaign 3.0 on social media and various mediums. SECL’s media activities during the campaign included 159 tweets, 20 press releases, 22 beneficiary videos, 03 best practice videos, telecast of special report on Doordarshan MP and Chhattisgarh, press release by PIB New Delhi etc.
In today’s program, Coal Secretary Shri Amrit Lal Meena, Additional Secretary Shri M Nagaraju, Coal India Chairman Shri PM Prasad from the Coal Ministry had a special presence.

SECL Director (Technical cum Planning/Project) Shri SN Kapri, Area General Manager Sohagpur, Shri P Krishna, Area General Manager Baikunthpur, Shri BN Jha, General Manager (Welfare/CSR) Shri Ratnesh Kumar Srivastava were present in the ceremony.
