K.S. Sundaram, ED to CMD visits NTPC Korba, focuses on the ‘cultural safety’ of the contract workers

K.S. Sundaram, ED to CMD was welcomed by Shri Madhu S, Head of Project, NTPC Korba on 01 November 2023 in the august presence of Shri A.K. Mishra, GM (Project Construction), Shri Somnath Bhattacharya, GM (Maintenance) and Shri S.P. Singh, GM (Fuel Management). NTPC Korba family and senior officials welcomed the dignitary with gaiety and honour.

K.S. Sundaram started his visit at NTPC Korba by visiting the FGD site along with Shri Madhu S., HOP, Korba and all the GMs. At the FGD site, team FGD along with team BHEL and other agencies were present to brief the guest of honor about the progress at the site. He even interacted with the contract workers and provided them with insights to work safely.

After that, Shri Sundaram visited the Control Room along with the convoy and interacted with all the new ETs. During the insightful discussion, he focused on improving work dynamics, and individual productivity and thereby improving the overall performance of the project.

In the same line, a meeting was held at the HOP Conference Hall along with Shri Sundaram to review the station performance wherein, all the GMs, HODs and the senior management of NTPC Korba were present.

During the insightful discussion, he threw light on improving and focusing on ‘cultural safety’. Underscoring the importance of safety, he remarked to uplight the notion of cultural safety among the contract workers. He also, suggested that the theme of a personal touch to the working relationship with the contract workers increases the connecting factor to increase their efficiency at work thereby again resulting in improvement in the overall performance of the project.

At a crux, Shri K.S. Sundaram believing and following one of the core values of NTPC Limited, ‘safety,’ he recognized that all accidents are preventable; therefore, safety shall be at the forefront of all our activities. The objective is to provide a safe working environment and strive for zero incidents at work.
