Construction of the Sankra to Jhagrendih road improves transportation for 27 villages

All year-round road access for villagers

Distance to reach Pithora development block headquarters reduced by 17 kilometres

Mahasamund 27 September 2023// Transportation and commuting have significantly improved for the residents of 27 villages with the construction of Sankra village to Jhagrendih road, located along National Highway 53. The new road has not only reduced travel time to the Pithora development block headquarters but has also shortened the distance by nearly 17 kilometres, resulting in both time and cost savings.

Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Executive Engineer Shri Chandrahas Jangade stated that the state government approved the construction of a 15.48-kilometre road at a cost of Rs 9 crore 21 lakh 33 thousand, connecting National Highway 53 at Sankra to Jhagrendih in the Pithora development block. This road project was completed in 2021 and directly benefits nearly 30,000 villagers residing in the 27 villages of the Pithora development block. These villages, including Bamhani, Kesarparu, Thelkodadar, Narsaiyapalam, Arangi, Jadamuda, Baitari, Jabalpur, Patharla, Rajpur, Bhikhapali, Rampur, Barnaidadar, Nayaktada, Devgarh Pirda Katel, Banjaradipa, Bijemal, Jhagrendih, Pardhiya Saraipali, Jhagrendih Tukda, Sankra, Bhatkunda, Bade Temari, Devsaral, and Pirda, have directly benefited from this road construction.

Expressing their satisfaction with this development, the villagers stated that previously, they had to travel to Pithora headquarters via Basna, which consumed more time and fuel. Thanks to the construction of the Sankra to Jhagrendih road, they now have a direct route to reach the Pithora headquarters.
