Chit fund scam victims expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the recovery of their invested amount
State government returned an amount of Rs. 38.08 crores to chit-fund investors so far
Raipur, 26 September 2023 . Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel returned Rs 38.4 lakh to 122 chit fund scam victims of Koriya and Bemetara districts in a program organised at the Chief Minister’s residence office through video conferencing on Tuesday.
The state government is making every effort to address the issue of financial fraud and has returned a total of Rs 38.08 crore to 69,503 investors. This effort includes 468 cases against 214 unregulated financial companies, resulting in 708 arrests and 402 cases presented in court. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has transferred an amount of Rs 34.63 lakh to 108 investors of the Bemetara district, and an amount of Rs 3.77 lakh to 14 investors of the Koriya district.
Addressing the program through video conferencing, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel shared the state government’s unwavering commitment to repatriating funds to chit-fund investors. He stated that Chhattisgarh is leading the nation as the first state to return money to these investors. Chit fund companies had deceived innocent citizens into investing their hard-earned savings, enticing them with promises of multiplying their investments. Mr. Baghel stated that from the moment he took responsibility for the Chhattisgarh Government, returning these funds became a paramount objective of the government. Through sustained efforts, they have achieved substantial success and will remain dedicated to this mission in the future.
The Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, greeted the investors who received their refunded money on Tuesday. Among them, Mrs. Saraswati Sahu from Bemetara district conveyed her heartfelt gratitude, expressing disbelief that she would ever recover her Rs 2.7 lakh. She credited the Chief Minister’s empathetic approach for this successful outcome. Likewise, Mrs. Urmila from Charcha in the Koriya district received an amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh, and Mr. Balam Sai from Chirmi received an amount of Rs. 1 lakh. Both of them interacted with the Chief Minister and expressed their gratitude for the recovery of funds.
