Physiotherapists played a significant role in removing the adverse effects that occurred in people’s bodies after the difficult phase of the Corona pandemic. During that difficult time, we all learned about the importance of physiotherapy. Today, physiotherapy is proving to be very helpful in many cases, including physical pain, paralysis, and neurological disorders.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel was addressing the first ‘Physiocon 2023’ organized at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College Auditorium in Raipur today. In this program organized under the aegis of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, there was a fruitful discussion between physiotherapists and experts from across the state. In the program, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. T.S. Singh Deo were honored with mementos.
 
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that due to increasing material comforts and modern means of transportation, the amount of physical activity in humans has declined, which has led to many problems and diseases. We have to understand that our body needs adequate hard work along with rest to function properly. He said that today, not only has physiotherapy emerged as an important necessity in the field of sports, it has also enhanced the physical ability of players. Baghel said that it can be seen in hospitals that patients suffering from a fracture or experiencing pain are advised physiotherapy. One thing to keep in mind is that physiotherapy should always be conducted under the supervision of a trained physiotherapist. Regular exercise and yoga also keep the body healthy. Physiotherapy is based on the principle that the human body requires proper movement.

The Chief Minister said that with the present lifestyle, less physical activity and more mental energy are being used, which has increased the importance of physiotherapy. He said that in the last five years, health facilities have expanded rapidly in the state and because of the schemes and commitment of the state government, great achievements have been made in the field of healthcare. The Chief Minister also appreciated the role of physiotherapists during the challenging period of coronavirus disease. On the request of the association, the Chief Minister said that the executive constitution of the Physiotherapy Council should be completed soon.
 
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. T.S. Singh Deo, while addressing the program, said that in the present times, physiotherapy has the utmost importance in the lives of common people as well as in the field of sports. Physiotherapy has become an integral part of sports. Today, sportspeople depend on physiotherapy for better performance. He also mentioned the contribution of physiotherapy to the improvement of the health of the former Chief Minister Mr. Ajit Jogi after his accident, and shared his personal experiences related to physiotherapy. The Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Singh Deo stressed the need to convey the importance of physiotherapy to people.
 
Dr. Sanjiv Jha, the National President of Indian Association of Physiotherapists, also addressed the program. The President of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (Chhattisgarh branch) Dr. Prashant Chakraborty, physiotherapists Dr. Faizan, Dr. Ali Irani, Dr. Joji John, Dr. Ruchi Wasnik, and Dr. Avinash Kushwaha, along with other physiotherapists from all over the state were present on the occasion.
