- From Grassroots to Greatness: NTPC Korba Empowers the Next Generation of Football Talent.
KORBA, July 30. In a significant initiative to promote grassroots football and nurture young sporting talent, the Junior Boys’ Inter District State Football Championship and Coaching Camp under CSR of NTPC Korba commenced on July 30, 2026, bringing together some of the most promising young footballers from across Chhattisgarh.
The five-day championship, scheduled from July 30 to August 3, 2026, features participation from eight district football associations: DFA Raipur, DFA Balod, DFA Durg, DFA Dhamtari, DFA Raigarh, DFA Rajnandgaon, DFA Narayanpur, and DFA Bilaspur. The tournament serves as an important platform for identifying emerging talent and providing young athletes with opportunities to showcase their skills at the state level.
The championship officially got underway with an exciting opening match between DFA Raigarh and DFA Durg, setting the tone for a competitive and spirited tournament.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Sh. Kishore Chandra Patra, Head of Project (HoP), NTPC Korba, who attended as the Chief Guest. Addressing the players and officials, he encouraged the young footballers to compete with discipline, determination, and true sportsmanship. He reaffirmed NTPC Korba’s commitment to supporting youth development through sports under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, emphasizing that sporting platforms such as these contribute significantly to character building, physical fitness, and leadership among young athletes.
Following the conclusion of the championship on August 3, 2026, 30 outstanding players will be selected based on their performances to participate in an intensive 21-day residential coaching camp from August 4 to August 25, 2026. The coaching camp is designed to prepare the selected players for upcoming national-level football tournaments by providing them with advanced technical training, tactical guidance, and physical conditioning under experienced coaches.
The initiative reflects NTPC Korba’s sustained commitment to strengthening grassroots sports infrastructure and creating opportunities for talented young footballers to progress to higher levels of competition. By combining a competitive championship with a structured coaching programme, the event aims to identify, nurture, and develop future football talent capable of representing the state and the nation with distinction.
