Raipur, September 17, 2023 / The state government is making every possible effort through its Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) initiative to economically empower youth and women self-help groups in rural areas. The Govardhan Cattle Feed Unit, located in Barhi within the Balod Development Block, continues to reach new heights in its production activities. The district administration is also actively providing assistance and monitoring the unit.
There is a growing demand for animal feed in both private dairies and government institutions. To address this, training was provided to eleven members of the group to produce animal feed.
The members have successfully sold nearly 18 tonnes of animal feed, worth nearly Rs 4.50 lakh. The group has earned a net profit of Rs 35,000 from these sales. Animal feed production commenced on September 8, 2023. The cattle feed unit established in Barhi has not only become a significant source of income for rural residents and self-help groups but also contributes to providing nutritious feed for animals.
The active members of the cooperative committee are diligently fulfilling their responsibilities. Committee member Shri Digvijay Sinha stated that rural women are finding employment opportunities through the Mahatma Gandhi Industrial Park established in their village, helping them achieve their dreams. Recognizing the growing demand for animal feed, they work in double shifts. Marketing efforts are also underway in collaboration with government institutions and private dairy operators.
Barhi’s nodal officer, Dr. Abhishek Mishra, stated that nutritious cattle feed and goat feed are currently being prepared here. Furthermore, there are plans to produce pig and poultry feed in the future.
