The retirement age of Anganwadi workers and assistants of the State Government increased from 62 years to 65 years

50% of vacant positions for workers will be filled by Anganwadi assistants.

The required experience for recruitment of assistants has been reduced from 10 years to 5 years.

Raipur, 15 September 2023//Chhattisgarh Government has announced a series of substantial changes to improve the welfare of Anganwadi workers and assistants and their service conditions. It includes an extension of the retirement age, increased recruitment opportunities, and enhanced allowances, underscoring the government’s commitment to empowering those dedicated to nurturing the health and well-being of women and children across the state. The state government has increased the retirement age of Anganwadi workers from 62 years to 65 years. Additionally, the percentage of vacancies in Anganwadi worker positions filled by Anganwadi helpers has been increased from 25% to 50%. Furthermore, the required years of experience for recruitment have been reduced from 10 years to 5 years. In this regard, the Department of Women and Child Development issued an order recently.

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel had announced an increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi workers and helpers in the budget for the fiscal year 2023-24. In accordance with the issued orders, Anganwadi workers and helpers are receiving increased honorarium from April 1, 2023. The honorarium for Anganwadi workers has been increased from 6,500 rupees to 10,000 rupees. Similarly, the honorarium for Anganwadi helpers has been raised from 3,250 rupees to 5,000 rupees, while for Mini Anganwadi workers, it has been boosted from 4,500 rupees to 7,500 per month.
A provision has been made for ex-gratia amount on the death of Anganwadi workers and assistants and lump sum payment on retirement in the state. Presently Rs 50 thousand is being provided by increasing the ex-gratia amount on the death of Anganwadi workers and assistants. Similarly, on retirement, there is a provision to pay Rs 50 thousand to Anganwadi workers and Rs 25 thousand to helpers.
