Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel lays the foundation stone of ‘Commercial Hub’, Aerocity and ‘Shaheed Smarak in Nava Raipur

‘Commercial Hub’ will be developed in a phased manner on 1083 acres

‘Aerocity’ will be developed in a phased manner in an area of 216.63 acres

‘Shaheed Smarak’ will be established in 13-acre area

Raipur, 12 September 2023/ Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel performed Bhoomi Pujan and laid the foundation stone of three important projects, ‘Commercial Hub’, Aerocity, and ‘Shaheed Smarak, in a ceremony organized at Sector-35 of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar on Tuesday.

With the aim of promoting investment, settlement, and commercial activities in Nava Raipur, a commercial hub will be developed on 1083 acres in Sectors 23, 24, 34, 35, and 40. Similarly, ‘Aerocity’ will be developed on 216.63 acres in the identified villages of Baroda and Ramchandi near Swami Vivekananda Airport to promote passenger facilities in Layer 3 of Nava Raipur, commercial airport area development, and employment generation. ‘Shaheed Smarak’ will be established on 13 acres in the VIP battalion in the village Parsada (Sector-3) of Nava Raipur.

Commercial Hub: 1000 wholesale commercial shops will be constructed in the first phase

The land allocated for the first phase of the commercial hub will include the development of around 1,000 wholesale commercial shops, with space for 20 different businesses. Separate areas have been allocated for wholesale grocery, incense sticks, wholesale gunny bags, pulse mills, paper trade, etc. The state government has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the development of the commercial hub in the financial year 2023–24. The infrastructure of the ‘Commercial Hub’ at a city level and the infrastructure development of 125 acres in the first phase will be completed at a cost of Rs 195.51 crore.

The land identified for this project is on National Highway No. 30, is situated near the allotment of the Bharat Mala Project, and has railway connectivity. The marked land plot is located about 12 kilometres from Swami Vivekananda Airport. The identified land is situated in the villages of Nimora, Upwara, Parasathi, Bendri, Kendri, Jhanki, and Mudpar. The land use of the allocated land is mixed with public and semi-public land uses.

It is worth mentioning that, based on consultation and surveys conducted with approximately 7743 wholesale business associations, market demand was assessed. The demand assessment and product mix are determined based on the availability of land in the identified area and the priority of business activity. A zoning plan is prepared for a total of 1,083 acres divided into business clusters, and the development proposed will be carried out in phases.

A wholesale commercial market spanning 438.47 hectares (1.083 acres) in Sectors 23, 24, 34, 35, and 40 is proposed to promote investment, settlement, and commercial activities in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. This market will benefit not only Chhattisgarh but also the border areas of other nearby states. The project aims to provide all the necessary facilities and physical infrastructure related to the wholesale business to meet high standards. With the implementation of this project, there will be the possibility of employment opportunities in the surrounding areas.

Aerocity: Provision of establishment of commercial institutions, shopping complexes, and hotels

Aerocity will be developed near the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Layer 3 of Naya Raipur Atal Nagar. The aim of this project is to promote passenger facilities, and commercial development in the airport area, and to generate employment opportunities. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel announced the establishment of Aerocity on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, 2023.

Aerocity is a development project that is planned to be constructed on 216.63 acres of land located in the villages of Baroda and Ramchandi in Nava Raipur. Since some of the land is privately owned, the project will be developed according to the city’s development plan. In order to prioritize the financial interests of the authority and market assessment, the first phase of development will focus on an area of approximately 24.85 acres.

The layout plan covers an area of 15.45 acres owned by the government. The plan proposes four commercial plots ranging from 0.62 acres to 3.01 acres, one shopping complex of 0.82 acres, and 1.44 acres of land designated for a hotel. To support the development of Aerocity, the state government has allocated a budget of Rs. 2 crore for the 2023–24 financial year.

Shaheed Smarak

The state government has allocated 931 acres of land in village Parsada (Sector 3), Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. The ‘Shaheed Smarak’ will be established in the VIP Battalion covering an area of 13 acres.

In this proposed project, Shaheed Smarak will be constructed on approximately 7 acres of land with walls to engrave the names of 2700 martyrs; Chhattisgarh Amar Jawan Jyoti will be constructed on approximately 6 acres of land; Smarak Museum will be constructed on a 1500 square meter area; parade ground for 21 Platoon; bugler platform; gallery for about 400 spectators; special guest gallery in 40 square meters; barracks for 60 soldiers in 1400 square meters; and arrangements for parking and fountain The state government has issued administrative approval of Rs 47.75 crore for this.

Housing and Environment Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar presided over the foundation stone laying program for various works under the Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Urban Development Authority area. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey, MLA Shri Dhanendra Sahu, Special Advisor to the Chief Minister Shri Rakesh Gupta, and officials of the Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce were present on the occasion.
