Delegation of the Mahar caste expressed gratitude for the rectification of the spelling error in Mahar caste

Raipur, 28 August 2023/ The delegation of Mahar caste belonging to the Buddhist community met with Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and expressed their gratitude for the efforts he made to rectify the longstanding demand related to the spelling of Mahar caste. The delegation was led by MP Mr. Deepak Baij.

For several years, the Mahar caste faced an issue with their caste certificates due to a spelling error. Consequently, they were deprived of government scheme benefits, including education and employment opportunities. Bastar MP Mr. Deepak Baij, in collaboration with the Buddhist community, persistently worked to address this issue. Their efforts led to a proposal from the Chhattisgarh Government to the Central Government concerning the issue related to the Mahar caste’s spelling error and taking the appropriate action regarding this. After parliamentary approval and the President’s signature, the Government of India issued a gazette notification and rectified the long-pending issue of the Mahar caste.

A state-level delegation of the Buddhist community extended gratitude to Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and State Congress President and MP Mr. Deepak Baij. They appreciated the fulfilment of a longstanding demand related to the Mahar caste of the Buddhist community. The delegation urged the swift implementation of the Government of India’s gazette notification in Chhattisgarh.

On this occasion, the delegation presented the ‘Constitution of India’ and biography of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and State Congress President and MP Mr. Deepak Baij on behalf of the Buddhist community. Various office holders, including Mr. Dilip Wasnikar from Raipur, Mr.Sunil Ramteke from Bhilai, Mr. Anil Khobragade from Dalli Rajhara, Mr. Bhojraj Gorkhede from Raipur, Mr. Sarang Rao Humane from Bilaspur, Mr. K R Uke from Raipur, Mr.Hemraj Kutare from Raipur, Mr. Praful Gedam from Bilaspur, Mr. Pramod Wasnik from Raipur, Mr. Rajesh Humane from Bilaspur, Mr. Virendra Borkar from Dongargaon, Mr. Sunil Nagdaune from Dongargarh, Mr. Ashok Dhawale from Bhilai, Mr. Anil Kavre from Bijapur, Mr. Anil Ramteke from Bijapur, Mr. Shashank Ghoreswar from Rajnandgaon, Mr. Pravah Nasre from Raipur were present.
