On 03 August 2023, on the occasion of Indian Organ Donation Day, Organ Donation Pledge Ceremony was organized at SECL Headquarters. Chairman-cum-Managing Director Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra administered the organ donation pledge. Director Technical (Operations) Shri SK Pal, Director (Finance) Shri G. Srinivasan, Director Technical (Project & Planning) Shri S.N. Kapri, Director (Personnel) Shri Debasish Acharyya, Chief of Medical Services Dr. Smt. Pratibha Pathak, General Manager (Personnel/IR/NEE) Shri Anoop Kumar Santoshi, various Heads of Departments, Officers – employees, various trade union representatives read the following pledge which was repeated by all present- “I pledge that I will donate my organs and tissues which can be used to give new life to someone after my death. In view of the paucity of organs and tissues for transplant in our country, I also pledge that I will make all efforts to motivate my family, friends and countrymen to donate their organs and tissues.”
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has decided to run an awareness campaign by the name of ”Angdaan Mahotsav” in line with the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence of India. As part of the compaign, 3rd August 2023 is being celebrated as the Indian Organ Donation Day to commemorate the first deceased donor organ transplant, which was also the first Heart transplant done in the country, after promulgation of “The Transplantation of Human Organs Act” on 8th July, 1994. The month of July 2023 (1st -31st July) is being organized as the Organ Donation month wherein many awareness activities have been planned.
