Employment-oriented technical training is the ‘need of the hour’ for better employment opportunities in the new era

Tata Technologies and the Department of Technical Education and Skill Development sign an MoU for the skill development of youth

Vocational training incorporated into school education, boosting career prospects for students

In an effort to keep up with global industrial advancements and promote sustainable growth, Chhattisgarh is embracing modernization in its industrial sector. With new technologies reshaping industries, the demand for skilled workers is on the rise. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Technical Education and Skill Development Department Minister Mr. Umesh Patel, the state government is taking steps to revamp the government’s industrial training institutes (ITIs). This initiative aims to equip the youth with training in contemporary trades, backed by expert guidance. Furthermore, the government is forging partnerships with major industrial technology groups to offer quality training opportunities to students. Additionally, students from higher secondary schools seeking vocational training are now eligible to receive both the 12th board certificate and the ITI certificate.

In a significant step towards boosting skill development in Chhattisgarh, an MoU was recently signed between the Technical Education and Skill Development Department and Tata Technologies in the presence of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel. The agreement aims to transform 36 government ITIs into the Industrial 4.0 Technology Hub in the state with an allocated budget of approximately Rs. 1188.36 crore. As part of this project, six new trades and 23 short-term courses will be introduced to equip youth with cutting-edge skills. Tata Technologies will contribute to the establishment of state-of-the-art technical workshops and provide expert trainers in selected government ITIs. Additionally, Tata Technologies and its associate company will collaborate in facilitating job placements for the trained youth, benefiting over 10,000 individuals annually.

Tata Technologies has announced a specialised training program for youth in selected ITIs. The initiative will provide one-year training in trades like Artisan Using Advance Tool, Industrial Robotics and Digital Manufacturing Technician, and Manufacturing Process Control and Automation. Additionally, two-year training will be offered in Advanced CNC Machining, Basic Designer and Virtual Verifier (Mechanical), and Electric Vehicle Trade. The program will also feature 23 short-term courses tailored to meet industry demands. Tata Technologies will establish state-of-the-art technical workshops in the selected ITIs, initially hiring two trainers for each institute. Furthermore, Tata and its associate companies will collaborate in providing job placements for the trained youth.

Tata Technologies Limited will transform the 36 Government ITIs into Industry 4.0 Technology Hubs, which include the government ITIs of Baikunthpur, Odgi Wadrafnagar, Mainpat, Bagicha, Lormi, Koni-Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir, Akaltara, Hasaud, Raigarh, Kharsiya, Rajnandgaon, Dongargaon, Manpur, Chhuikhadan, Pandariya, Gunderdehi, Dallirajhara, Gurur, Durg, Patan, Dharsiwa, Hirapur, Arang, Abhanpur, Bhatapara, Simga, Bagbahra, Pithora, Kanker, Antagarh, Charama, Nagarnar, and Dantewada.

In a groundbreaking move, students in state schools now have the opportunity to pursue employment-oriented vocational courses alongside their regular education, catering to their technical interests. The state government has established a seamlessly integrated system, fostering collaboration between schools and ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes). This novel approach enables school students to receive vocational training in various ITIs across the state. Upon completion of their studies, students will be awarded certificates, and with the added vocational training, they will also obtain an ITI certificate, enhancing their employability.
