Problems like itching, watery eyes, and swelling can occur due to allergic conjunctivitis
To avoid the problem, keep your eyes clean and wash eyes repeatedly with cold water
Raipur, 25 July 2023/ Rain, humidity, and contaminated water can breed a variety of bacteria, some of which can cause eye infections. The risk of viral and bacterial infections increases due to the increase in moisture in the air during rainy days. As a result, some people suffer from conjunctivitis, redness, eye flu, etc. Conjunctivitis is spread by viruses and bacteria, due to which it spreads easily from one person to another. Conjunctivitis is also known as pink eye. Most of the time, this problem can be cured by normal treatment. Since the eye is the most sensitive organ, it needs special care. Allergic conjunctivitis can cause problems like itching, watery eyes, and swelling.
Director of Epidemic Control, Dr. Subhash Mishra, said that conjunctivitis is a contagious disease that spreads through contact. Hence, the patient is advised not to touch his eyes. The spread of this disease can be prevented by keeping the things used by the patient separate. The belief that the disease can be spread by looking at an infected eye is a myth. This disease spreads only through contact.
Symptoms
Eyes turn red, start watering, and there is a burning sensation. Yellow and sticky liquid starts accumulating on the eyelids. Swelling occurs along with stinging in the eyes. Its most commonly visible symptoms are watery eyes and itching. If the infection is more serious, then the cornea of the eyes can also get damaged, which can affect vision. Children are at a higher risk of catching the eye flu during the monsoon season.
To prevent eye flu or conjunctivitis, keep the eyes clean and wash them frequently with cold water. Avoid coming into contact with an infected person. If you are suffering from conjunctivitis, do not touch your eyes again and again. Wash your hands thoroughly before putting eye drops in your eyes. Applying ice to the eyes provides relief from burning sensations and pain. Avoid going to dirty and overcrowded places during an infection. Do not shake hands with the infected person, and do not touch their belongings like spectacles, towels, pillows, etc. Also, do not share your towel, handkerchief, spectacles, etc. with anyone. If these things are taken care of, the problem can be solved effectively.
In the case of any eye-related problem, it is advisable to see an eye specialist to avoid a serious situation. Eye check-ups and treatment facilities are available free of charge in medical colleges, district hospitals, community health centers, and primary health centers.
