Raipur, 28 June 2023//

The State Government, National Health Mission, and CNIN have collaborated to establish 23 urban primary health centres in the state as model ‘Hamar’ hospitals. These facilities have been providing exceptional healthcare services to local residents. Impressively, 14 out of the 23 centres have received the prestigious National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) certificate from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, further validating their commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services.

A concluding program was held at a private hotel in Nava Raipur on Wednesday to mark the completion of the Model Urban Primary Health Centre and Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) project in Chhattisgarh, undertaken by CNIN. The organisation collaborated with Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital to screen and treat children with CHD. During the event, the dedicated staff from all 23 model Hamar hospitals were honoured. The program also featured a panel discussion on ‘Primary Health Care among Urban Populations’ and a workshop on ‘Workplace Happiness’ for the hospital staff. Additionally, CNIN unveiled a booklet showcasing their exemplary ‘Adarsh Hamar Hospital’ Project in Chhattisgarh.

Tata Trusts, in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Government, has successfully implemented the Model Urban Primary Health Centre project as part of the Chhattisgarh Health Systems Strengthening Initiative. Launched in 2019, this initiative aimed to transform 23 urban primary health centres into model Hamar hospitals, equipped with child-friendly vaccination rooms, patient-centred facilities, and the integration of digital technologies. The project also focused on enhancing pharmacy services, expanding the range of medical tests and medicines, and improving the efficiency of the healthcare staff. The success of these model hospitals has prompted plans to develop other urban primary health centres in the state along the same lines. In addition, Tata Trusts has partnered with Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital to provide early detection and treatment for congenital heart diseases (CHD), reflecting their commitment to making healthcare accessible to all.

During the concluding program of the project, the Director of the National Health Mission, Mr. Bhoskar Vilas Sandeepan, emphasised the importance of ensuring quality healthcare in both rural and urban areas. He commended the staff for their outstanding services in the Model Hamar Hospitals and urged them to enhance the services in other healthcare centres by incorporating feedback from the public. Mr. Sandeepan expressed gratitude to Tata Trust and CNIN for their collaboration in strengthening primary health services across the state.

During the program, Dr. Sita Ram Budaraju, Senior Health Advisor at Tata Trusts, highlighted their commitment to providing accessible and affordable quality healthcare, particularly to underprivileged communities. Over the past few years, they have been working in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Government. The establishment of a network of 23 model Hamar hospitals, along with digitization and proactive monitoring for quality control, has proven to be a successful pilot project. Dr. Budaraju expressed hope that this initiative will enhance service quality by strengthening the capacity of frontline health workers and offering improved healthcare facilities to the people through the implementation of new technologies.
