Raipur : Chhattisgarh bags medals in the first Khelo India Tribal Games competition

Players from Chhattisgarh have bagged medals in various events of the first Khelo India Tribal Games Championship held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Players of the Residential Archery Academy Bilaspur and Athletic Academy have won medals. The Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and the Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Mr. Umesh Patel have congratulated the players for their outstanding performance.

Kuber Singh of Residential Archery Academy Bilaspur has won the silver medal in 30 m. and has achieved the second position in the overall championship. Similarly, Kumari Tarnika Teta, a player of Residential Athletic Academy Bilaspur, has won the silver medal in the 100 m. women’s championship. The Sports and Youth Welfare Department had organized the selection trial for players of various sports disciplines in the state on May 25 at the training center in Bilaspur.


 
Chhattisgarh’s team entered the finals by defeating Tripura with a score of 4-0 in the Women’s Football semi-finals held today. Kiran Pisda, a player from Girls Football Academy Raipur, scored three goals, while Pinky Kashyap of Bastar scored one goal. The final match will be played between Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand on June 12. It is noteworthy that 5,000 athletes from 18 states are participating in the championship held in Bhubaneswar.
