The Chhattisgarh government is developing Krishna Kunj in the urban areas of the state with the aim of promoting tree plantations and saving our cultural heritage. In just one year, these Krishna Kunjs have transformed into flourishing green spaces adorned with numerous trees. Under the scheme, a significant number of 55,781 trees have been planted across 224 acres in 169 urban areas of the state.

It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the ambitious ‘Krishna Kunj’ scheme by personally planting saplings in Krishna Kunj, located in Telibandha, Raipur, on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. On the same day, tree plantation drives were carried out in Krishna Kunj, established in various urban areas of the state, with active participation from the public.

Aiming to motivate people to plant trees and save the existence of trees holding cultural and religious significance, the Chhattisgarh Government has undertaken an initiative to develop ‘Krishna-Kunj’ in all urban bodies across the state. The plantation of culturally significant and other valuable trees is being done here. The initiative includes the planting of trees that contribute to environmental balance and provide abundant oxygen, including sandalwood, rudraksha, banyan, peepal, kadamb, and more. Additionally, Krishna Kunj also encompasses the planting of fruit-bearing trees like mango, tamarind, ber, Ganga Imli, Jamun, Tendu, Chironji, pomegranate, Kaitha, neem, palash, bel, and amla, among others
