Korba 26 May 2023// Just a few years ago, Heerasai had cows, oxen, and buffaloes, but his income was limited to selling milk alone. The utilization of cow dung was confined to producing manure and fuel. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t boost their earnings. Bharti, another livestock owner, had cows at home, but it didn’t contribute to her income. Cleaning cow dung was merely a daily chore. However, when the Godhan NYAY Yojana was introduced in the state, both of them registered themselves as cattle owners.
They started collecting cow dung on a daily basis and started selling it through the Gauthans. Within a short span of time, the proceeds from selling cow dung accumulated significantly, enabling them to purchase a bike and a scooty. The additional income derived from selling cow dung now plays a vital role in supporting their other essential expenses. Heerasai and Bharti, who previously struggled to earn a substantial income despite owning livestock, have now experienced a notable increase in their earnings through the sale of cow dung.
