Chhattisgarh will be imbued with the glory of Lord Ram, Ramayan teams from more than 10 states have agreed to participate in the national event

’National Ramayan Festival’ will be organized in Raigarh’s Ramleela Maidan from 01 to 03 June

 

Raipur, 21 May 2023/ Chhattisgarh will be imbued with the glory of Lord Ram in the coming month. The Culture Department is organizing the National Ramayan Festival in Raigarh’s Ram Leela Ground from 01 to 03 June, for which preparations are in full swing. The festival will feature performances mainly centred on the theme of the Arnaya Kand in the Ramayan. It is believed that Lord Shri Ram spent most of his exile in the forests of Dandakaranya in Chhattisgarh. Foreign artists will also stage beautiful performances of Lord Ram’s story at the festival.


 
The officers of the Culture Department said that Ramayan teams from nearly 10 states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Goa, Assam, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh have agreed to participate in the National Ramayan Festival. The event will also feature attractive stage presentations of the epic by Ramayan artists from foreign countries. Interestingly, the tradition of the stage performance of the Ramayana is prevalent in South-Eastern countries as well, and the teams from these countries will participate in the Ramayan Festival.


 
The three-day event will feature daily performances by eminent artists at the national level. Stars from Indian Idol and Saregama, Shanmukha Priya and Sharad Sharma, will participate in the event on June 1. Famous singers Baba Hansraj Raghuvanshi and Lakhbir Singh Lakha will present their musical performances on June 2. Famous Bhajan singer Maithili Thakur and popular poet Kumar Vishwas will present their renditions of the story of Lord Shri Ram on June 3.


 
At the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the Chhattisgarh Government is developing places in the state connected with Lord Ram’s journey during his exile through the ambitious scheme of the Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit. These places, which range from Surguja to Bastar, are being developed as tourism spots by the government.
