Self-help Group of 90 tribal women of Abujhmad earned Rs 15 lakh in a year
Raipur 13 April . Priyanka Gandhi, the special guest of the Bharose Ka Sammelan program held in Jagdalpur, praised the work of the women self-help group from Abujhmad. When Manmati, who came from Abujhmad, informed Mrs. Priyanka Gandhi that 90 women in her group have earned an income of more than 15 lakh in 1 year, she hugged Manmati intimately and said that “your group is an inspiration for many women and you all are doing a commendable job.”
It is notable that various types of employment-oriented activities are being successfully conducted by the women of Mavli Multiactivity Center of the Gothan located in Kochwahi village of Narayanpur district. The indulgence of rural women in the multi-activity centre has encouraged entrepreneurship and self-reliance among the local rural women as well. Manmati Potai, who works in the same Gothan, informed that the women associated with the self-help groups of the Gothan have strengthened their socio-economic condition by joining the food processing unit, cow dung paint manufacturing unit and paver blocks unit. 90 women are employed in the food processing unit. Apart from processing Kodo rice, black rice, brown rice, red rice, women are also making 5 types of cookies, including Kodo kutki millets cookie, mahua, jaggery ragi, tamarind cookies etc. Along with this, ragi flour, tikhur powder, honey, processed poha, mushroom production is also being carried out in this Mavli Multiactivity Center. In the last one year, processed foods worth Rs 15 lakh were sold by women from this centre, from which they have clocked a net profit of Rs 6 to 7 lakh.
