Raipur 13 April . Numerous school buildings demolished along with the dreams of the innocent children. A makeshift bamboo hut built to impart education with the hope of turning dreams into reality. Finally, the construction of the concrete building of the school overcomes fear with determination.
The evolution of these three pictures of the school buildings in Bastar over the course of years prove that nothing is impossible if pursued with determination. Looking at the debris of demolished school buildings in the Naxal-affected areas of Bastar, no one could have imagined that the picture of the state of education of Bastar would be transformed in such a way. The glimpses of this model depicting the picture of the revival of the education system in the Naxalite-affected area of Bastar can be seen in the ‘Sanvarta Sukma’ stall in the ‘Bharose Ka Sammelan’ organized in Jagdalpur.
It was decided to re-start the schools which were demolished earlier in the sensitive areas of Bastar on the instructions of the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel in the year 2018-19. Due to the demolition of most of the school buildings by the Naxalites, a total of 123 schools had remained closed from the year 2006 to 2010 in Konta development block under Sukma district. Schools were not operated for about 12 to 13 years. As per the intention of the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, 123 schools which were closed were reopened in Sukma district from 2018-19 to 2022-23. Initially, the schools were operated in makeshift huts built by the villagers. Presently, the approval for school buildings has been given by the government in 80 places. Out of which buildings have been completed at 54 places. The construction work is in progress at the remaining places. As many as 4382 children are studying in these schools presently and regular teachers have been posted at 45 places.
‘Shikshadoots’ have helped transform the state of education- On the initiative of the administration, it was decided to make the educated youths of the same Gram Panchayat as Shikshadoots, who kept the children connected with education in their villages. Due to their constant efforts, all the schools which were closed in the district for the last four years are running again with the presence of Shikshadoots who are imparting education in numerous villages.
Jagargunda receives the approval of the examination center after 14 years – After the ‘Salwa Judoom’ campaign, the educational institutions of Jagargunda were operated in Dornapal, due to which the examinees used to reach Dornapal a month before their examination after traveling for 56 kilometers. Alternative arrangements were made in the ashram-hostel for the students to stay until the completion of the examination, whereas some children appeared in the examination by staying in a rented house. The ashram-schools were re-operated from Dornapal to Jagargunda in 2019. The candidates of classes 10th and 12th had to come to Dornapal to appear in the board exams for two years. Now, with the establishment of the new center, the students need not travel long distances, due to which the extra hassle faced by the students amidst the crucial period of their examination has been greatly reduced. As soon as the situation became normal in the Naxal-affected area of Jagargunda, the district administration had set up an examination center to provide relief to the examinees. As many as 16 examination centers were set up in the district for the successful organization of Board of Secondary Education Examinations. Board exams were conducted in 14 centres in the previous years and 3 new exam centers were created this year. Expressing happiness over the opening of the examination center, the nearby students and their parents expressed gratitude to the government administration for this initiative.
