Chief Minister Shri Baghel pays tribute to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary

Raipur 11 April . Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday paid tribute to the social reformer, thinker, writer, and philosopher Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary by offering flowers on his portrait, at his residence office here. Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey was also present on this occasion.

In his message, the Chief Minister said that Jyotiba Phule Ji had undertaken many works for the upliftment of women and Dalits. To end discrimination against Dalits and to give them a place in society, Mahatma Phule founded the Satyashodhak Samaj. He not only promoted women’s education but also provided education to his wife, Savitribai Phule, who became India’s first female teacher.

He added that Mahatma Phule wanted to free society from superstition and malpractices. He was a strong opponent of the prevalent caste system in Indian society and the discrimination based on it. He emphasized on education for all sections of society to free them from the evils prevailing in the society. The Chief Minister said that the life and thoughts of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule will continue to inspire us towards serving humanity.
