Provision of one-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for violating the ban
Raipur, 06 April . Fish seed production and farming of exotic Magur (Clarias gariepinus) and Big head (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis) fishes have been declared prohibited by the Fisheries Department of Chhattisgarh Government. No fisherman, individual, group, or committee shall produce fish seed of these prohibited fishes in any central or state government or personal water bodies. According to the notification issued by the state government, the transportation, import, and marketing of these fish have also been banned.
According to the order issued by the Director Fisheries for violation of the ban, one-year imprisonment and Rs 10,000 or both can be punished under the Chhattisgarh Fisheries (Amendment) Act 2015. If the state government found that any person or persons involved in any activity related to these banned fish, then they will be banned from all kinds of schemes offered by the fisheries department.
