Raipur: Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana: Assistance amount for the marriage of daughters increased from 25 thousand to 50 thousand

Now there will be no problem in organizing marriage – the dreams of marriage of daughters of underprivileged families will be fulfilled

Raipur, 06 April . The state government has increased the assistance amount under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana from Rs 25 thousand to Rs 50 thousand. A provision of Rs 38 crore has been kept for this scheme in the budget presented for the year 2023-24. With this initiative, the dream of the marriage of many daughters belonging to the underprivileged families of the state will be fulfilled.


Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the state government has increased the amount of financial assistance under the scheme twice. In the first budget presented by Mr. Baghel as a Chief Minister, giving priority to the marriage of daughters, he had increased the grant amount given under the scheme from Rs. 15 thousand to Rs. 25 thousand in the year 2019. Now this amount has been increased to 50 thousand rupees. Compared to the year 2019, the fixed budget amount has also been increased from Rs 19 crore to Rs 38 crore. Due to this, the concern about the marriage of daughters in many families has been removed.


Significantly, due to financial problems in many families, it becomes difficult for the families to bear the expenses of their daughters’ marriage.. Under these circumstances, the state government provides financial assistance for the marriage of daughters under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana. The objective of this scheme, run by the Department of Women and Child Development, is to solve the economic difficulties faced by underprivileged families in the marriage of the girl child, the scheme also aims to prevent dowry transactions and extravagance in marriage by promoting simple marriages through the organization of group marriages which gives a boost to the community sentiment and social status of the families.

Benefits payable under the scheme


Under this scheme, financial assistance is given to families living below the poverty line and card holder families of Mukhyamantri Khaddanny Yojna , the benefits are given to a maximum of two girls above the age of 18 years of age. Along with providing the bride and groom’s makeup and other daily use items as gifts, money is also given through bank draft under this scheme. Some amount is also spent for organizing mass marriages. Widows, orphans, and destitute girls are also included under the scheme. The office of the District Women and Child Development Officer / District Program Officer can be contacted to take benefits of the scheme. One can contact the Child Development Project Officer or the Integrated Child Development Officer at the development block level or information regarding the scheme can also be taken from the Anganwadi workers of the applicants area.
