The purchase of Gaumutra in Gauthans has also increased the income of self-help groups. Women of Kawardha district’s Birkona village and self-help groups in Birendranangar Gauthan are purchasing Gaumutra and manufacturing Bramhastra organic pesticide from it. Mrs. Triveni Devi Anant, Secretary of Sangam Self-help Group of Birkona Gauthan, said that her group has sold 2400 liters of Gaumutra. 600 liters of Bramhastra organic pesticide have also been sold. Insecticide manufactured from Gaumutra has better disease resistance as compared to chemical insecticide

Chhattisgarh is the first state of the country that is purchasing Gaumutra at Rs. 4 per liter from villagers and livestock farmers, besides purchasing cow dung at Rs. 2 per Kg. The success of the purchase of cow dung paved the way for the purchase of Gaumutra under the Godhan Nyay Yojana. Jivamrit, pest-control products, and growth promoters are being manufactured. The aim of these initiatives is also to bring down the toxicity in food grains and to decrease the costs of farming. The indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and insecticides is destroying the nutrition in food and decreasing the fertility of the soil. Agricultural scientists opine that Gaumutra is a better and cheaper alternative to chemical insecticides. Moreover, its disease resistance is far greater than that of chemical insecticides. The spraying of these insecticides in fields has significantly helped in pest control. The use of Gaumutra pesticide is more effective for insects that eat leaves and prune fruits and stems.
