Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi : Solar energy provided light, drinking water, and irrigation to 247 families

Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi 02 March . Thadpathra village in the district is a tribal-dominated village surrounded by trees and situated on a hilly plain where conventional energy could not be used to electrify. Water was required for drinking and irrigation, as well as light in the village to get a clear vision of dwellings and streets at night. To address this scenario, Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) embraced the challenge and electrified all of the houses in the village of Thadpathra using non-conventional energy (solar plant).

In village Thadpathra, 10 plants totaling 88 KW have been installed to electrify 247 beneficiary families. Under the Saubhagya Yojana, solar house lights have been installed. Each family has been given a plant with a capacity of 200 watts. As a result, electricity is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For lighting in squares and haat-bazaars, two solar high mast lights have been installed. Accidents and wild animals can thus be avoided in the dark. The nighttime traffic is now safe. In addition to this, 04 solar dual pumps have been put in the solar hand pump setup for the provision of drinking water, resulting in water being provided to the villagers 24 hours a day. The residents no longer have to travel far to find water. The state government is giving solar pumps at reduced rates to the farmers of the village as part of ‘Saur Sujala Yojana’ to offer irrigation services. 03 HP and many solar pumps with a capacity of 05 HP have been installed. Farmers have been able to undertake irrigation all year because of this. Farmers’ economic conditions are improving as a result of the good output of Rabi-Kharif crops.
