Jashpur forest division enters Golden Book of World Records by dispersing over 2 lakh seedballs in a single day

Environmental conservation is a collective responsibility: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur, June 20, 2026/ The Jashpur Forest Division has entered the Golden Book of World Records for dispersing and planting more than two lakh seed balls in a single day as part of a large-scale afforestation campaign.

The official certificate was presented by Golden Book of World Records state head Smt. Sonal Rajesh Sharma at a programme held at the Chief Minister’s camp office in Bagia in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. Divisional Forest Officer Shri Shashi Kumar received the certificate on behalf of the Jashpur Forest Division.

Congratulating the Forest Department and all those associated with the initiative, the Chief Minister said that environmental conservation is a collective responsibility, not the government’s alone. He described the campaign, “Beej Gola Banabo, Jashpur Ke Jangal La Badhabo”, as an outstanding example of public participation in environmental protection.

Shri Sai said the achievement demonstrates how governments, institutions and communities can accomplish ambitious goals when they work together towards a common purpose. He said the record is a matter of pride not only for Jashpur but for the entire state and would inspire similar initiatives elsewhere.

The campaign was launched to promote conservation of native vegetation, strengthen biodiversity and increase green cover. Its success was driven by extensive public participation, with villagers, public representatives, students, women self-help groups, social organisations, Forest Department personnel and citizens taking part.

More than two lakh seedballs were dispersed during the drive, helping the campaign evolve into a mass movement for environmental conservation.

District Panchayat President Shri Salik Sai, Collector Shri Rohit Vyas, Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Lal Umed Singh, Forest Department officials, representatives of social organisations and a large number of citizens were present on the occasion.
