Central India based Coal behemoth and a subsidiary of Coal India Limited(CIL), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has promoted 1778 Non-executive cadre employees in a single day on Aug 31st. These employees are working in various operational Areas of the Company which are spread in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh States. The major chunk of promotions are from Korba Coalfields where Mega-projects of the Company, namely, Dipka, Gevra & kusmunda are also located. The Company has 13 operational Areas wherein around 65 mines have been grouped in different Coalfields.
The official release from HQ Bilaspur states that the promotion were based on sanctioned Manpower budget 2022-23, and significantly, all eligible employees have been promoted in the first half of the year itself. The process of preparation of Manpower budget was very elaborative in which local Colliery management, Trade Union representatives etc. also invited to provide inputs, the release said. CMD SECL Dr. P S Mishra who took over this Mini Ratna Ratna Company, few months back, had issued directions to that effect in an address to the Company on this 15th Aug. Today, while congratulating the promoted employees, he said that this shows the commitment of management towards employee welfare. We are not only productivity driven, we strive to ensure best opportunities and amenities for our employees – he was cited. The coal company has around 43 thousands employees in its working roll. In some of the Mines,
dealing executives themselves went to the homes of promoted employees along with Promotion Order & Sweets, a gesture which has been appreciated by many on Company’s Social Media post. At Company’s Excavation Workshop in Korba, almost all the promoted employees are females who work on Machine shops, Rolling shops etc. The promoted employees are from different Staff Cadres like, Data entry Operator, Clerk, Technical Inspector, Matron, Assistant foreman, Pharmacist, Overseer, Radiographers, engineering assistants etc. as per the official release.
SECL aims to produce 182 MT of Coal in FY 2022-23 and has registered a growth of around 20 percent on YoY basis, this fiscal.
