Bhubaneswar, 13/12: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the distribution of smart health cards under the Biju Health Welfare Scheme in Cuttack and Khordha districts. While 1.8 million people in Cuttack will get the facility, about 1.4 million people in Khordha will get the smart card. In addition, people from 24 districts of the state participated in the event.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated various projects worth Rs 2,500 crore in Cuttack district. Addressing a function at Cuttack Baliyatra Padia, the Chief Minister said that the Biju Health Welfare Smart Health Card is a testament to the state government’s commitment to achieving the goals of a healthy Odisha and a happy Odisha. Similarly, in Begunia, the Chief Minister launched the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana for Khordha district and launched a Rs 1,000 crore project there. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Khordha Mati was the land of the first freedom struggle. “We will continue to fight for the rights of the Oriya people,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the mothers of Mission Shakti are the chariots of the new era. “The mothers of Khordha’s Mission Shakti are doing well,” he said, adding that more than 27,000 Mission Shakti mothers in Khordha have recorded loans of more than Rs 32 crore across the state. The Chief Minister congratulated them on that.
He launched the program by providing smart health cards to beneficiaries in both districts. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the smart health card under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojna would alleviate the medical concerns of the people of the state and increase the participation of all in the field of development. He hoped that this would reach the peak of state development.
The Chief Minister said that BSKY Smart Health Card service has been launched across the state from September 1 this year. “From that day on, a new era in Odisha’s healthcare began,” he said. With the help of smart health cards, we can alleviate the worries of our poor people. He said three and a half crore people from 600,000 households in the state would benefit. Many health problems can be avoided, especially financial ones. He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was not the answer. Now people can get better treatment at 200 major hospitals in the country by holding a piece of card without any hassle. “It simply came to our notice then.

The function was attended by Health Minister Shri Nab Das, Food and Supply Minister Shri Ranendra Pratap Swayamsevak Panchayat Raj Minister Shri Pratap Jena, Badamba MLA Shri Devi Prasad Mishra among others while Science and Technology Minister Shri Ashok Panda, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Shri Khurdha. Begunia MLA Shri Rajendra Sahu was the chief guest. They lauded the Chief Minister’s leadership for the betterment of the state in various fields. They said the new trend of development in the state had paved the way for the whole country. “Odisha is one of the leading states in the country today, starting with health, education, infrastructure and industry,” he said.
