₹12,640-cr Loan Pact Signed for Korba Super Critical Thermal Power Project

Raipur: In a major boost to its ambitious power expansion plan, the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company (CSPGCL) has inked a loan agreement worth ₹12,640 crore with the Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) for the implementation of the 2×660 MW Korba West Super Critical Thermal Power Project.

The project was formally launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2025. The loan agreement was signed in Raipur on Friday, in the presence of Governor Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Power Secretary and CSPGCL Chairman Dr. Rohit Yadav (IAS), Chairman Subodh Kumar Singh, and Managing Directors S.K. Katiyar, R.K. Shukla, and Bhim Singh Kanwar.

On behalf of CSPGCL, Executive Director (Finance) Sandeep Modi and Executive Director (Project) C.L. Netam signed the agreement, while IRFC was represented by General Manager Nav Goyal.

The long-term, low-cost funding is expected to ensure financial stability of the project and facilitate its timely completion, ultimately benefiting the people of Chhattisgarh. Expressing satisfaction, Dr. Rohit Yadav reaffirmed the company’s commitment to make every possible effort to meet the growing energy needs of the State and the nation.
