KORBA: of petrol, diesel, LPG, edible oil, food grains and fertilizers. For past 1.5 years, people have been reeling under COVID crisis. The middle and the lower class are finding it difficult to make the two ends meet. State government is constantly trying to provide some relief to the public through various policies but central government is engaged in robbing the people.
President of Darri Block Congress Sudhir Jain said that prices of crude oil have dropped by 36 percent in international market, but the prices of petrol in the country have increased by 31 percent, while of diesel by 55 percent. On the other hand, the price of crude oil in international market during the government of Dr Manmohan Singh was 103 dollar per barrel, but domestic prices for petrol were Rs 72 per litre and diesel Rs 55 per litre.
Vice President of District Congress Committee Rajendra Singh Thakur said that BJP leaders raised the issue of price rise when they sat in opposition. The people trusted them and the party came in power but today the same public is pleading with BJP to have mercy and check price rise. All the farmers, labourers and lower class are ready to vote BJP out of power in 2024.
Congress leader Rekha Tripathi said that the prices of petrol have increased by Rs 25 within last 7-8 months. It is also the first time when petrol and diesel are being sold at equal rates. MiC member Sunil Patel said that LPG prices have doubled during past 7 years. In March 2014, it was sold at Rs 410 per cylinder but today we are paying Rs 880 per cylinder. Within past 5 months, the prices have increased by Rs 225. Mastul Kanwar said that BJP leaders only issue misguiding statements in order to divert attention from important issues. Kerosene oil, which was sold at Rs 10 per litre before 2014 is now being sold at Rs 30 per litre. Corporator Rupa Tirkey, Alderman Ashish Agrawal, Puran Das Mahant, Banwari Aditya, Sikandet Memon, Tarkeshwari Sharma, Shubham Diwan, Bhuneshwar Dubey and other large number of party workers were present on the occasion.
While protesting against price rise, they said that while the public is battling against price rise, mismanagement by the government is leading to unemployment. Many people have lost their jobs while others are educated but unemployed. Demonetization and GST have ended several trades. Narendra Modi had appropriated the blame of price rise on Dr Manmohan Singh. However, now as prime minister he is least bothered about the budget of an average middle class household.
