- Dispatch reaches beyond 138 MT in the current financial year
In the fourth quarter of the financial year, SECL’s coal dispatch has picked up pace. More than 5 lakh tonnes of coal is being delivered to consumers by SECL every day.
The company is sending about 55 rakes of coal to various consumers including power plants daily. As of January 27, SECL’s total coal dispatch has crossed 138 million tonnes.
The company’s key mega projects Gevra, Dipka and Kusmunda have dispatched 46, 25 and 26 million tonnes of coal respectively in the current financial year.
FMC speeds up dispatch, underloading reduced
The implementation of first mile connectivity projects in SECL has accelerated the dispatch. The company has registered a growth of 7% in dispatch from FMC in the current financial year as compared to the previous year. Talking about Central India Coalfields, which includes the company’s Chirimiri, Baikunthpur, Bishrampur, Hasdeo, Bhatgaon, Jamuna-Kotma, Sohagpur and Johila operating areas, currently 71000 tonnes of coal is being dispatched per day with a growth of 24% from the earlier level of 57000 tonnes.
Continuous efforts are being made to further improve the functioning of FMC, as a result of which underloading has reduced. Under FMC, coal is sent directly from the pit head of the mine to the siding with the help of mechanized conveyor belt, which saves time and money and also promotes environmental protection.
The company has started new FMC projects which include Dipka Silo of Dipka area and Chhal and Baraud Silos of Raigarh area which were inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi last year.
Rail corridor strengthens dispatch infrastructure
SECL is developing a 300 km long rail corridor in the coal belt of Chhattisgarh at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore through its subsidiary companies CERL and CEWRL. With the construction of the rail corridor, dependence on passenger rail route for sending coal will be reduced in the future and coal dispatch capacity will expand.
At present, SECL has the capacity to send 70 racks of coal per day, but the availability of racks has been affected due to construction work in the rail circuit and upgrading of the existing network. In the coming time, dispatch will also increase in accordance with the availability of railway racks.
