Tribal dance troupes from different states enthralled the audience with their spectacular performances

The Inter-State Tribal Folk Dance Festival and Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas concluded on Friday after a two-day celebration of tribal culture and traditions in Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attended the closing ceremony at the Science College Ground, where Tribal dance troupes from various states showcased their vibrant performances.
The festival featured performances from folk dance groups representing Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh. Highlights included the Hojagiri dance by the Bru Riang community of Tripura, where young women balanced bottles on their heads while dancing in perfect harmony. The Kayang dance from Himachal Pradesh, performed in a circular pattern, symbolized unity and the beauty of nature.
The Garo dance from Meghalaya expressed devotion to the deity Misi Saljong, while Mizoram’s Mizo dance showcased bravery and valor in battle. The Harul dance from Uttarakhand, performed by the Hati tribe, narrated heroic stories of the Pandavas and local gods.
On the first day of the festival, several other dances were performed, including Chakos Tangnam from Sikkim, Siddhi Goma from Gujarat, Geh Padam A Na Nyi from Arunachal Pradesh, and various dances from Chhattisgarh, including the Gaur Madia dance.
The festival brought together a rich variety of tribal dance forms, offering a vivid glimpse into the diverse cultures, stories, and traditions of India’s tribal communities. The event concluded with performances from folk artists across Chhattisgarh, celebrating the state’s own tribal heritage.
