NTPC Korba Organizes ‘Poshan Aahar Vitaran’ Program for Undernourished Children

On the occasion of Children’s Day, NTPC Hospital Korba, in collaboration with the Welfare Wing of the Maitri Mahila Samiti and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department, organized the ‘Poshan Aahar Vitaran’ program to support undernourished children in the surrounding areas. The event, held on November 14, 2024, focused on children aged 1 to 10 years, with the primary aim of addressing malnutrition and promoting healthier outcomes for the community’s youngest members.

As part of the initiative, nutritional supplements, multivitamins, iron & folic acid tablets, and Vitamin D were distributed to 28 children identified as undernourished. The program is part of NTPC’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness among the general population about the importance of balanced nutrition, the detection and treatment of anemia, and the need for regular growth monitoring of children.

The key objectives of the program include:

  • Educating the community on the significance of a balanced diet and proper nutrition.
  • Promoting the use of locally available food items to bridge nutritional gaps.
  • Offering essential health supplements to children facing malnutrition.
  • Monitoring the growth of children and following up with registered participants for at least one year.

Dr. Vinod Kolhatkar, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of NTPC Korba Hospital, emphasized, “This program is a crucial step in addressing the rising concerns of childhood malnutrition in our community. By distributing nutritional supplements and raising awareness about proper dietary habits, we are not only addressing immediate needs but also empowering families to make informed decisions about their children’s health. We are committed to following up with the children and their families for a sustained improvement in their nutritional status.”
The event was graced by BUH Korba, Shri Rajeev Khanna, along with Smt. Roli Khanna, President of the Maitri Mahila Samiti. In addition to senior officials from NTPC, the gathering included General Managers, office bearers of the Maitri Mahila Samiti, union and association representatives, doctors, CSR team members, and local volunteers.

A special cake-cutting ceremony marked the occasion, celebrating both Children’s Day and the positive impact of the program. The ceremony highlighted the importance of community involvement in tackling malnutrition and ensuring a healthier future for children.

The event was attended by healthcare professionals from NTPC Hospital, local community leaders, and volunteers, who collectively emphasized the importance of community involvement in tackling malnutrition and ensuring better health for children.

NTPC remains committed to its social responsibility and aims to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the communities surrounding its facilities.
