The BE (Business Excellence) Department of NTPC Korba organized a highly engaging 5S@Home workshop followed by a prize distribution ceremony on 5th November 2024. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Rajeev Khanna, BUH (Business Unit Head) of NTPC Korba, and Smt. Roli Khanna, President of Maitri Mahila Samiti (MMS). The occasion was further distinguished by the participation of other VPs and senior members of MMS, along with NTPC Korba employees and their families.
5S@Home Workshop: Empowering Families with Organizational Skills
The 5S@Home initiative was an innovative effort by NTPC Korba’s BE Department to promote the core principles of 5S methodology—Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain—into everyday home life. The workshop aimed to teach employees and their families how to incorporate these essential principles of organization and cleanliness into their homes for a more efficient and harmonious living environment.
The 5S methodology, traditionally used in industrial settings for improving workplace efficiency and safety, was adapted to the home environment, emphasizing the importance of creating organized, clutter-free spaces that enhance productivity and well-being. Participants were provided with practical tips and hands-on techniques for streamlining household tasks, maintaining cleanliness, and creating a well-ordered home atmosphere.
Prize Distribution Ceremony: Recognizing Excellence
Following the workshop, the prize distribution ceremony honored the winners of the 5S@Home initiative, recognizing those who best embraced the principles of 5S in their homes. Employees and their families were invited to showcase their transformed living spaces, and a panel of judges evaluated the efforts based on creativity, effectiveness, and adherence to the 5S principles.
Shri Rajeev Khanna, BUH Korba, congratulated all the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment to adopting the 5S practices at home. “The 5S@Home initiative not only enhances the quality of our work environment but also improves the quality of life at home,” he said. “I am pleased to see such active participation from our employees and their families, and I encourage all of you to continue embracing these principles in your daily lives.”
Smt. Roli Khanna, President of Maitri Mahila Samiti, expressed her appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing how such programs contribute to fostering a sense of community and personal well-being. “It is heartening to see such positive energy and collaboration, and I am proud to be part of an organization that values the holistic development of its employees and their families,” she remarked.
