Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister, Shri Arun Sao, held a review meeting at the divisional headquarters in Ambikapur to assess the progress of development projects and the implementation of schemes across urban bodies in the Surguja division on October 21. The meeting took place at the Ambikapur Collectorate. Shri Sao emphasised the need for well-structured and systematic city planning. He instructed Municipal Corporation Commissioners and Chief Municipal Officers (CMOs) to collaborate effectively with engineers to ensure that all projects are completed on time without compromising quality. He stressed that the highest priority should be given to development and public facility improvements.
Shri Sao also sought updates on the directives issued during last month’s state-level review meeting in Raipur. He inquired about changes in operational procedures within urban bodies, office management practices, and the status of ongoing projects. He reiterated that Commissioners and CMOs must take their responsibilities seriously and work diligently to serve the best interests of the cities. Ensuring the successful implementation of government welfare schemes and maintaining city cleanliness and aesthetics were key points he highlighted. Furthermore, he reviewed the implementation of transfer orders and the resolution of pending grievances from the recent public grievance redressal fortnight.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao issued a strict warning against negligence and disinterest in work, making it clear that such behaviour would not be tolerated. He assured officials that non-performers would face consequences. He urged them to work with enthusiasm, reminding them that the state government fully supports local development efforts. Shri Sao also directed engineers to avoid delays, spend time on-site, ensure high-quality construction, and submit proposals and reports in a timely and organised manner.
Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the status of site demarcation for the construction of Atal Premises across urban bodies in the Surguja division. He directed CMOs to submit their proposals to the respective collectors without delay and instructed that work commence immediately after Diwali. Shri Sao also called on all urban bodies to ramp up preparations for the ‘Swachh Survekshan’ (cleanliness survey) and emphasised the importance of planned development, cleanliness, and beautification through enhanced coordination between departments.
Urban Administration Department Secretary Dr. Basvaraju S., Surguja Collector Shri Bhoskar Vilas Sandipan, Additional Director of Urban Administration Department Shri Pulak Bhattacharya, Joint Director of Ambikapur Regional Office Shri S.K. Sundarani, along with commissioners of all municipal corporations, chief municipal officers of municipalities and nagar panchayats, and engineers from the Surguja division were present.
