Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that offering medical education in Hindi would significantly benefit students from rural areas
Raipur, 15 September 2024. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai made a significant announcement on Hindi Diwas, revealing that all medical colleges in Chhattisgarh will soon offer MBBS courses in Hindi. Addressing the media, Shri Sai stated that the state government has decided to introduce Hindi as a medium of instruction for MBBS studies. He was accompanied by Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal. He confirmed that Hindi-medium MBBS courses would commence with the 2024-25 academic session. The Health Department has been directed to ensure the availability of necessary textbooks in Hindi, aligned with the student intake.
In his Hindi Diwas message, Shri Sai underscored the importance of promoting Hindi across governance, administration, and education. He emphasised that the Chhattisgarh Government is following the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who, during a rally in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, in February 2022, highlighted the need for medical education in Hindi.
Chief Minister Shri Sai shared that there are currently 10 government medical colleges in Chhattisgarh. He stated that offering medical education in Hindi would significantly benefit students from rural areas, who are often more comfortable learning in Hindi. This initiative is aimed at overcoming the language barriers faced by talented Hindi-medium students in medical education. The Chief Minister further stressed that studying in one’s mother tongue fosters a deeper understanding of subjects, ultimately helping produce more competent doctors. He reiterated the government’s dedication to implementing this approach at all educational levels in Chhattisgarh.
