Chhattisgarh participates in second International conference on ‘Green Hydrogen India 2024’

Raipur, 11 September 2024 –Chhattisgarh represented in a mega three-day event on green energy – Second International Green Hydrogen Conference organized in New Delhi by Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy from September 11 to 13.

In the event, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually addressed the inaugural session of the event, which was attended by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Puri, Government of India’s Principal Scientific Advisor Professor Shri Ajay Sood and other senior officials on Wednesday.

The conference aimed to establish India as a global hub for the production, use, and export of green hydrogen.

The event aims to discuss the recent advances and upcoming technologies across the entire Green Hydrogen value chain. The forum will provide an opportunity to discuss the evolving Green Hydrogen landscape and network with global scientific community and industry.

During the conference, Chhattisgarh was represented by Shri Sumit Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer of the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA). Chhattisgarh highlighted its initiatives in biomass-based green hydrogen production and shared updates on efforts to promote green hydrogen as a biofuel within the non-conventional energy sector.

Chhattisgarh’s representative also emphasized the availability of biomass resources, including agricultural waste, dairy industry by-products, fruit and vegetable market waste, and cow dung, which present significant potential for large-scale green hydrogen production using appropriate technology. Successful implementation could see green hydrogen utilized in major steel industries, food processing units, and fertilizer plants in the state. Chhattisgarh’s efforts will contribute significantly to the National Green Hydrogen Mission’s target of producing 5 million metric tons by 2030 and support India’s vision of energy conservation and self-reliance.
