Company to compensate Rs 15 lakh to families affected by the accident

Injured individuals to receive Rs 3 lakh

Plant will not resume operations without administrative approval

Raipur, 11 September 2024/ The company operating the alumina plant in Surguja, where a recent industrial accident occurred, will provide a compensation of Rs 15 lakh to the families of each deceased victim. Additionally, those injured in the accident will be compensated with Rs 3 lakh each.

It is worth noting that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, expressing deep sympathy for the families affected by the industrial mishap last Sunday, had directed the district administration to take appropriate action. In response, the Collector of Surguja has constituted an investigation team to probe the incident. Today, the Collector, along with the investigation team, inspected the alumina plant and instructed company officials to promptly disburse the compensation to the families of the deceased and injured.

The Collector further stated that each bereaved family will receive Rs 15 lakh, and the injured will be compensated with Rs 3 lakh from the company. The compensation will be handed over by company officials to the families on 12 September in the presence of the administrative team. The investigation team is rigorously scrutinising the safety measures at the alumina plant. It has also been made clear that the plant will not resume operations without the prior approval of the administration.
