Raipur: Comprehensive measures and arrangements in hospitals for the treatment of swine-flu

Health department urges people to be vigilant

Raipur, 8 September 2024. State government is implementing measures to ensure the effective monitoring and treatment of swine flu. In this regard, the State Health Department has been directed to ensure comprehensive measures and arrangements to increase test capacity and deal with cases of swine-flu.

Bilaspur Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Prabhat Srivastava said that there is a facility of isolation ward, medicines and oxygen cylinders in Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), District Hospital and all Community Health Centers. A dedicated ambulance has been arranged to transfer critical patients to other institutions if needed. CMHO said that symptoms of swine-flu is like normal fever, one should consult doctors immediately if one experiences fever with symptoms like body pain, cold and phlegm.

Explaining the cause of death of Swine Flu patients, Bilaspur CMHO Dr Srivastava said that the co-morbidity is one of the cause of deaths of swine flu patients, in other words, those swine flu patients who are already suffering from chronic ailments tends to succumb in some situations due to previous illness. Hence, the chronic patients need to be more vigilant on experiencing symptoms like fever and cough.

To prevent its infection, the health officials advised to avoid going in crowds, avoid spitting and sneezing in public places, use a mask and maintain distance from other people. If one catches a cold, cough, fever and does not revive within the first 72 hours, then one must get tested for Swine Flu. Swine flu (H1N1) is a highly contagious respiratory infection caused by a type A Influenza viruses in humans.
