Announces a Zero-Tolerance Policy against quack doctors in Bilaspur

Private Hospitals and IMA urged to assist in malaria and diarrhoea campaign

Raipur, 21 July 2024/ Bilaspur Collector Shri Awanish Sharan reviewed the latest situation of malaria and diarrhoea in the district by holding a meeting of officials via video conference on Sunday. This review is in compliance with the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, who has directed the district administration to ensure all possible measures are taken to deal with malaria and diarrhoea.

The Collector instructed that all sources of drinking water be chlorinated within the next two days. He also directed the construction of platforms around all village borings, which will be built within the next 15 days using District Panchayat funds. He strictly mandated that all doctors and health workers must remain at their headquarters and perform their duties diligently. There will be no shortage of medicines and beds at any level.

The Collector urged raising public awareness about the actual causes of these diseases and advised people to drink boiled water and use chlorine tablets. He instructed the SDM and Tehsildar to inspect these villages and provide information about the outbreaks that have occurred in the last 10 years. He assured that the administration has no shortage of resources and that all concerned departments should work in mutual coordination. Additional beds should be kept ready in all CHCs and PHCs, as well as at the district headquarters, as a precaution.

The Collector announced a zero-tolerance policy against quack doctors, instructing all SDMs to take action by closing their clinics and shops. FIRs will also be registered against them whenever possible. He also appealed to private social welfare organizations to cooperate in the campaign.

In response to the Collector’s appeal, the Ratanpur Mahamaya Trust is providing khichdi and food to sick patients, while the Nemichand Jain Trust has pledged to provide 200 mosquito nets. Currently, a cleanliness programme is being conducted in all 668 villages of Bilaspur district. This programme is held twice a week, on Saturday and Tuesday, during which people are educated about cleanliness and proper eating habits.

The Collector also stated that the cooperation of private hospitals and IMA of Bilaspur is much needed. He suggested that they be assigned villages in the affected areas, with responsibility for treatment and setting up medical camps.
