Instructions given to prepare an action plan for the development of the institute
Efforts will be made to preserve it as a heritage building
Raipur 25 June 2024// Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma inspected the model ITI located at Koni in Bilaspur district today. The institute currently accommodates around 1200 students enrolled in 33 different trades. During his visit, Shri Sharma toured various departments and engaged with students. He also held a meeting with officials to discuss the institute’s development.
Shri Sharma stressed the importance of restoring the institute’s prestige, stating, “Directions have been given to prepare an action plan in consultation with public representatives.” He further stated that there is a need to build one more hostel as there are currently only two hostels for 125 students, which is insufficient. He instructed officials to start mess facilities in the existing hostels and proposed, “New trades should be introduced according to current demand, while trades with limited job opportunities should be considered for closure.”
He added that the ITI currently spans 60 acres of land. The institute’s income could be increased by converting some of its front portion for commercial purposes. Since it is recognized as Asia’s first ITI, efforts should be made to preserve it as a heritage building. He also instructed to clean the institute’s campus.
MLA Shri Sushant Shukla, District Panchayat President Shri Arun Singh Chauhan, Collector Shri Awanish Sharan, along with other officials and public representatives were also present.
