June 1st is celebrated as Global Parents Day across the world to honour and recognise the pivotal role parents play in the lives of their children. This day emphasises the importance of family as the fundamental support system and the significant contributions parents make towards nurturing and protecting their children. To mark this occasion, parents of Sony SAB’s shows express their gratitude towards their parents and the challenges of being a parent onscreen and offscreen.
Mahesh Thakur, who plays Jaidev Sharma on Sony SAB’s Aangan Aapno Kaa, said, “To a parent, their child is always the most beautiful, a reflection of their unconditional love and care. On this Global Day of Parents, we celebrate and honour the profound impact parents have on our lives. Thank you to my own parents for being my guiding light and constant support. As I am a parent both onscreen and offscreen, I do take my duties as a parent very seriously. Even in Aangan Aapno Kaa, my character Jaidev has been fulfilling his responsibility as a father by ensuring that he passes wisdom to his three daughters.”
Karuna Pandey, who essays the role of Pushpa in Sony SAB’s Pushpa Impossible, said, “On Global Parents Day, I reflect on the profound impact my parents have had on my life, shaping me into who I am today. Their love and support are mirrored in how I care for my dogs, who are like my own children. Just as Pushpa stands by her kids, Ashwin, Rashi, and Chirag, through every challenge, Pushpa has committed to providing the same unwavering love and dedication to my furry family. Parenthood, whether to human or animal children, is a testament to the strength of unconditional love.”
Sumeet Raghavan, who plays Rajesh on Sony SAB’s Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi, Naye Kissey, said, “My parents have been my pillars of strength, guiding me through every challenge with wisdom and love. Every achievement in my life is a testament to my parents’ dedication and love. I thrive to be a good parent not just with my kids in real life but also in reel life. I am as close to my real-life daughter, as I am to Chinmayee (Sakhi Wagle) and Sheehan (Atharv Wagle) on the show. As an actor, I feel it is my responsibility to put out a character that mirrors society and I feel Rajesh Wagle is that character, especially in terms of parenthood.”
Pariva Pranati, who plays Vandana Wagle on Sony SAB’s Wagle Ki Duniya, said, “Parents are the first teachers in a child’s life. My parents instilled in me the values of hard work, compassion, and integrity. They have always been there to lift me up and my journey as an actor would not have been possible without the constant motivation and belief of my parents. I have taken their values forward and tried imparting the same to my son. My parents have been like my friends and that’s how my character Vandana Wagle is shaped as well. I am both a friend and a parent to my onscreen kids. Just like both Sakhi and Atharv share everything with Vandana, I wish that my son too would share everything with me once he reaches the teenage stage.”
