Raipur : Empowered youth of Bastar unite to end child marriage

Youth interacted with Chief Minister, briefed him about their efforts


Raipur, March 10, 2024 . In a remarkable display of dedication to eliminating social injustices, youths hailing from the remote corners of Bastar are actively engaging in the Child Marriage Free India Campaign. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai launched the Child Marriage Free Chhattisgarh Campaign in Raipur today, signaling the state’s intensified commitment to the nationwide drive.


Youth from Bastar, including Anita Netam, Pramila Baghel from Bakavand, Jyoti Som from Naktisemra, Meenkunwar Kashyap from Badedeoda, Ajay Maurya from Lamker, and Chandrakumar Nag from Madhota, were present during the launch with posters. These passionate individuals briefed the Chief Minister on their extensive efforts and awareness initiatives aimed at combating child marriages in Chhattisgarh.


These youths mentioned that for the past three years, their team has been conducting awareness campaigns against various social issues in the Bastar region, alongside initiatives to promote health awareness.  Their concerted efforts have yielded tangible results, with a notable reduction of up to 87 per cent in reported cases of child marriages. Encouraged by this progress, they express optimism in achieving a 100 per cent success rate in the near future, attributing their confidence to the proactive public welfare schemes and awareness drives initiated by the Chhattisgarh Government led by Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.
