Raipur 23 February 2024/ Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap handed over a dividend cheque of Rs. 2.26 crore from the Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today at his office chamber in the Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha premises.
Appreciating the work of the Forest Development Corporation, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Forest Development Corporation is making an important contribution towards the expansion of green cover and environmental improvement in the state. The corporation has not taken any loans from any financial institution. It is a profit-making government institution. This achievement of the Forest Development Corporation is commendable, and other organizations should take inspiration from it. Chief Minister congratulated Forest Minister and officials of the Forest Department and Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation for this achievement.
Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap provided Chief Minister Shri Sai with a detailed overview of the Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation’s activities and accomplishments. Chhattisgarh Forest Development Corporation Managing Director, Shri Tapesh Kumar Jha, stated that the Corporation is expected to earn an income of Rs. 69.44 crore in the financial year 2022-23 from the sale of forest produce obtained from the thinning of teak plantations, as per the action plan approved by the Government of India, and other income sources. Besides, the corporation has made a net profit after tax of Rs 52.65 crore. In the same period, the corporation has undertaken extensive afforestation efforts, planting 20.98 lakh teak trees in a 1319-hectare area, along with 8.82 lakh mixed species saplings, funded by various public undertakings under the Deposit Planting Scheme to enhance environmental conditions in the state.
Forest Development Corporation reported obtaining 15,653 cubic meters of timber, 10 lakh pieces of wood, 10,804 pieces of firewood, and 426 notional tonnes of industrial bamboo, along with 2,01,588 pieces of commercial bamboo in the financial year 2022-23. These resources were acquired from thinning trees. The corporation’s activities have notably improved the social and economic conditions of forest dwellers and economically backward villagers in forest areas, providing them with sustained employment opportunities. The corporation does not rely on loans from banks or financial institutions, nor does it receive grants from the state government. Forest Development Corporation remains committed to furthering green initiatives and environmental enhancements in the state.
