Raipur , 27 September 2023//

The Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated Chhattisgarh’s first-of-its-kind, state-of-the-art bioethanol demonstration facility in the Godhi village of the Durg district on Wednesday through video conferencing. The Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA) has formulated the facility’s technical design and plans under the guidance of esteemed scientists from CSIR and CSMRI, Government of India.

Chhattisgarh’s CBDA has established the demonstration facility for 1G Bio-Ethanol at the Biofuel Complex Project site in Godhi village of Durg district. The plant is solely dedicated to research and development in biofuel-related activities, focusing on production, processing, and conversion technologies. It will utilise locally available raw materials like surplus paddy, wheat, inedible rice grains, sugarcane juice, molasses, and maize, harnessing starch-containing compounds found in Chhattisgarh for sustainable biofuel initiatives.

The experiment for bio-ethanol production is underway at the Demonstration Facility for Bio-Ethanol (DFB-E), and the facility has procured surplus paddy belonging to the Feed 2 category of the Kharif Marketing Year 2019-20 from CG MARKFED. The state government has also established a cutting-edge biotechnology laboratory within the Biofuel Complex Project premises. This lab will conduct stringent quality tests of bio-ethanol, adhering to Bureau of Indian Standards criteria, while fostering efficiency enhancements and innovation for co-product utilization. Additionally, the project will register patents where feasible, marking a significant step towards sustainable biofuel advancement in the region.

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. T.S. Singh Deo, Secretary of Energy Department Mr. Ankit Anand, and several senior officials were present.
