Chief Minister inaugurated three important projects of the Transport Department 


Nirbhaya Command and Control Center launched for safe travel of women
 
Automated fitness center established in Raipur and Durg
 
Automatic number plate recognition also started
 
Raipur, 27 September 2023/ Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated three important projects of the Transport Department today from his residential office in Raipur. The three projects were Nirbhaya Command and Control Center (GPS) for women’s safety, Automated Fitness Center in Raipur and Durg to reduce accidents caused by unfit vehicles, and Automatic Number Plate Recognition Camera installed for monitoring vehicles passing through various linkage routes. Home Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu was also present in the program.
Describing these projects of the Transport Department as crucial, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that along with the safety of women, there will be a reduction in road accidents, and strict action will also be taken against vehicles without valid documents. The state government is concerned about the safety of women. Necessary steps are being taken in this regard. He said that the innovative measures of the Transport Department will prove helpful in ensuring safety on the roads by using state-of-the-art technology. Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Subrat Sahoo, Principal Secretary Mr. Manoj Pingua, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary of Transport Department Mr. S. Prakash, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Ankit Anand, Mr. Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Mr. S. Bharthidasan, and other senior officials also participated in the program.
 
Police will be notified as soon as the panic button is pressed
 
Transport Department Commissioner Mr. Dipanshu Kabra said that the Transport Department has started many innovative measures for the safety of women. In this context, a vehicle tracking platform has been established as per the instructions of the Government of India, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, under the Nirbhaya Fund to promote safe travel for women on public transport. Under the project, GPS and panic buttons will be installed in passenger vehicles operating in the state. In case of an emergency, by pressing the panic button, the information will be immediately received by the police department through the command and control center of the transport department. This will provide safety to women and children traveling in passenger vehicles and will help them in an emergency.
 
Fitness check of vehicles
 
In view of the increasing number of vehicles and accidents in the state, the Transport Department has established Automated Fitness Centers in Raipur and Durg. Transport Department officials said that fitness tests of more vehicles can be done in the fitness center as compared to manual tests. A fitness test of goods vehicles will be done by automated machines in the fitness center, and vehicles failing the test will not be allowed to run on the road. Automated fitness centers will prove to be very helpful in ensuring fit vehicles operate on the roads and that more vehicles can be tested in less time. It is noteworthy that after Raipur and Durg, action is being taken to set up automatic fitness centers in Bilaspur, Ambikapur, Jagdalpur, Korba, Raigarh, and Rajnandgaon.
 
Action will be taken against vehicles without valid documents
 
The third project launched today by the Transport Department is the Automatic Number Plate Recognition Camera with e-Detection. Under the project, action will be taken against vehicles that are not running on the highway but are passing through various lockdown routes. ANPR cameras are being installed on these leakage demands; the information about the vehicles received through ANPR cameras will be matched with the database of the vehicle software, and an e-challan will be issued to the vehicles running without valid documents. For this, e-detection software has been developed in collaboration with NIC. After receiving information from the toll plazas of the National Highway through e-detection software, challan proceedings have started against vehicles passing without valid documents.
